Visitors from around the world visit Les Eyzies de Tayac, with the main goal being a visit to Font de Gaume. The information on the internet is often outdated or completely wrong / false.. this is because over the past 5 years Font de Gaume has changed it’s ticket policy 5 times, making it a nightmare for a lot of visitors [ and locals ]

There are 2 ways to get tickets for Font de Gaume, buying in advance, and buying on the day. You CANNOT buy tickets online.

Buying tickets in advance to Font de Gaume

Please note that you can buy tickets in advance as of January 1st 2016, tickets get snapped up very quick and usually by April all the advance tickets are sold out

• The only way to secure tickets in advance is by email: fontdegaume@monuments-nationaux.fr or telephone: +33 (0)5 53 06 86 00.

Buying tickets to Font de Gaume on the day

• Early arrival is essential! There is allocated seating outside the ticket office, and each seat is numbered. If you arrive and all seats are taken, you have missed the ticket allocation for that day and will need to try again another day.
• Ticket sales are limited to one ticket per person. Multiple ticket purchases are not allowed, therefore all members of your group who wish to visit Font de Gaume must be present at the ticket office at time of ticket purchase.

The ticket office is located at the base of the cave and opens for ticket sales at 9.30am.

There are guided tours in English and French, with places on each tour subject to availability.

If you are in Les Eyzies for just a couple of days, and really want to visit the cave, we strongly recommend getting an early start, people start queuing at 6am, 7am should get you a ticket, but there is no guarantee..
